This took me several hours when I first tried Blender Guru's tutorial some 5 years ago. I can successfully say that I did this in under an hour. And even worked out a Geometry Nodes setup to reduce the number of overlapping particles, which can't really be done (at least I don't know how) with Blender's particle system.
